DCCDA supports high quality child care and recognizes the need for assistance.

The following scholarship program is available to provide assistance for low-income or at risk families:

Douglas County Child Development Association Tuition Scholarship – funded by United Way of Douglas County, the City of Lawrence, and by private donation.

  • Sliding scale scholarships for families earning up to 300% Federal Poverty Level
  • Center based and home based child care
  • Keep low-income parents in the work force or training for work
  • Provide quality early education opportunities for young children who otherwise would not be able to afford it

All facilities participating in our scholarship program receive a quality care rating based on the Kansas Quality Rating Improvement System.  KQRIS is a system that measures quality in five key areas of care, including Health and Safety, Group Sizes, Child to Caregiver Ratios, Caregiver Education, and Accreditation.  For more information on KQRIS and other quality care indicators, visit the Child Care Aware website: http://www.ks.childcareaware.org/provider_kqris.html
