PBSW Group

Another opportunity to become part of a PBSW group!

PBSW (Positive Behavior Support Work-Study) is a group of collaborating, supportive early childhood educators who want to learn and apply positive, supportive teaching strategies in their classroom.  These 8-10 teachers, along with a facilitator, are committed to one session per month – each session building on the next.

PBSW sessions break the Positive Behavior Support Modules into less intimidating parts so that teachers can feel confident in developing skills as they work on one piece of the PBS puzzle at a time.  Each group session will end with guided action planning.  These plans are created by individual teachers based on his/her own classroom practicalities and build on personal strengths.  Participants challenge themselves to develop new practices and offer encouragement and support to one another.

The Positive Behavior Support Pyramid Teaching Model and Modules are based on research by the Center on the Social and Emotional Foundations for Early Learning (CSEFEL).  The ideas and strategies of PBS have been shown to reduce disruptive behaviors, improve classroom atmospheres, help develop social-emotional strengths needed for life, and allow more time for positive activities in the classroom.

Please see the PBSW GROUP PROPOSED SYLLABUS for more details.  KDHE hours approved.  With questions and registration, please directly contact Sunday Monson at DCCDA, 1525 W. 6th St, Lawrence, KS 66044, sunday@dccda.org or (785) 842-9679
